Ok  I  am  going  to  be  getting  a  new  system  in  a  week  or  so  when  i  get  my  tax  return!
Any  opinions  and  which  system  i  should  get  Vista  or  windows  7.   Any  problems  with  BF2  on  either  one  of  those?

All  I  know  that  the  new  system  must  have  a  quad  core  in  it  along  with  a  good  video  card.......I  perfer  a  Nvdia  one.     I  hate  the  ati  radon  cards...  I  have  had  nothing  but  problems  with  the  one  that  is  in  my  system  now!

OR  SHOULD  I  JUST  GET  A  MAC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Shocked   Laughing   Laughing

I  love  and  hate  mac's  love  there  is  almost  no  viruses  and  apple  writes  all  drivers  and  test  them  fully.Hate  that  it  takes  forever  to  get  a  game  or  anything  to  come  out  for  a  mac. How  much  are  you  looking  to  spend  and  do  you  want  amd  or  intel. To  me  vista's  only  use  is  a  drink  coaster  i  would  run  windows  me  first  lol.If  your  going  to  build  one  get  windows  7.

I'm  considering  that  as  a  purchase,  tossing  the  955  in  the  old  PC  and  running  this  one  in  the  gaming  rig.

I  would  choose  Windows  7  over  Vista.  I  see  no  reason  to  go  backwards.

For  the  price  amd  is  cheaper  for  the  cpu  and  motherboards. There  motherboards  only  have  4  ram  slots  but  over  8  ghz  is  a  waste  for  most  people.I  have  been  on  newegg  for  about  900  i  can  have  a  mean  amd  with  room  later  to  upgrade.

Ok  it  looks  like  I  am  going  with  a  3.8  ghz  qued  amd  processer!   (But  i  did  just  see  a  TV  Ad  for  intel  Pentam  5)  and  a  Nivida  9100  Geforce  card  3gb  of  ram  (DDR  3  i  do  believe)  to  play  with.   As  a  bonus  i  am  getting  a  23in  flat  screen  .

Now  Does  BF2  play  on  windows  7?   At  least  i  know  i  should  be  able  to  play  Bad  company?  right?

On  a  side  note:   these  graphice  cards  are  so  are  to  tell  what  it  newer  sometimes!  For  example  right  now  i  have  a  HD  3650  ATI  Radon  which  i  newer  than  a  9600  ati  radon.   How  do  i  know  only  becase  of  the  HD  in  front  of  the  3650   (high  definion).  but  with  all  the  GX'S....GS's   MMX.....  and  so  on  for  Nivida  i  get  so  confused

Yeah  video  card  numbers  can  get  a  little  funny. The  new  ati  have  hd  and  5700  up  numbers.Nivida  are  a  gt  or  gtx  250  and  up  in  the  numbers  the  gt  is  slower  then  a  gtx. The  price  is  the  biggest  giveaway  its  new  or  fast. And  yes  bf2  will  play  on  vista  and  or  7  just  have  to  right  click  the  shortcut  and  put  it  to  run  in  xp  mode.

I  haven't  had  any  issues  running  BF2  on  Win7,  and  I  don't  have  compatibility  set.

Prior  to  DX10  I  don't  think  there  were  any  games  that  utilized  64-bit  processors  or  multi-threading  (everybody  had  a  single  core  32-bit  processor).   Crysis  was  the  first  to  break  that  mold,  taking  advantage  of  both.   I'd  be  hesitant  to  say  that  putting  more  than  8GB  of  memory  in  your  system  is  overkill--  I've  found  that  putting  in  enough  memory  for  today  (i.e.  8GB)  is  necessary,  but  you  might  find  in  a  year  that  8  isn't  enough.   I'm  of  the  opinion  that  you  might  as  well  buy  and  install  as  much  as  the  system  can  handle  (or  as  much  as  your  wallet  can  handle)  and  don't  look  back.

My  only  appreciation  for  ATI  cards  is  the  price:  it  seems  you  can  get  a  better  price  for  an  ATI  card  than  an  nVidia  card.

Thanks  for  everyones  input  on  this!   I  just  want  to  make  sure  a  get  a  system  that  i  can  continue  to  build  on  as  time  goes  bye.   That  is  the  only  way  I  got  my  gateway  to  last  for  i  think  its  going  on  it's  8th  year!   But  this  time  i  wanted  to  start  big  and  hopefully  i  wont  have  to  upgrade  every  year  or  so!   WIfe  gets  mad  when  i  tell  her  we  need  a  new  graphic  card   or  more  memory  again  or  something  like  that!

Tell  her  its  on  sale  ?Laughing  or  show  her  the  price  on  newegg  vs  a  store. And  once  you  pick  out  the  motherboard  look  up  the  ram  list  to  make  sure  you  get  ram  that  works  it  can  be  a  headache  if  you  buy  the  wrong  ram.

Ok  it  looks  like  i  am  going  with  intel  pentem  5  quad  core  (2.5Ghz  x4),  8Gb  memeory  DDR3  ram,  HD4350  ati  radeon  graphics  with  a  25  in  display(sweet  looking).   Any  where  between  1tb  to  850Gb  HD  space.   I  think  this  should  be  able  to  play  BF  badcompany  2  when  it  comes  out!

With  the  new  intels  most  motherboards  are  triple  channel  ram  so  its  best  to  buy  it  in  3  sticks.Make  sure  you  got  a  good  power  supply  and  a  case  with  good  air  flow  to  handle  the  heat.Good  luck  let  us  know  how  it  runs  when  you  get  it  together.
